The RE/MAX network has grown in number of offices every year since its founding in January 1973. In 2003 the largest number of new franchises were bought in California, followed by Texas, Spain, New England and Australia, the U.S. Southwest region (Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico), and Southern Africa. More than half of the franchises sold were outside the United States – with about two-thirds of those in Europe.
